Iron Health Benefits

  • Iron is one of the minerals most vital to human health. While all human cells contain iron, it is mostly found in red blood cells. The health benefits of managing iron levels include eliminating fatigue and many of its sources.

  • Iron also plays a vital role in immune system function, treating anemia, boosting hemoglobin, reduces fatigue, improves muscle endurance, boosts immunity, improves concentration, reduces bruising, restores Sleep, and much more.

  • Iron overdoses are rare. Most of the time, if there is more iron in the body than necessary; the body will save it for future use. Most people get all the iron they need from their diets, but certain illnesses may make it necessary to use iron supplements.

  • Health Benefits;

    1. Treats Anemia; Iron is helpful for treating anemia, one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the world. Anemia results when hemoglobin is below normal ranges. Symptoms of anemia include fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, fast heart rate, and an overall feeling of sickness and weakness.

    2. Boosts Hemoglobin; The chief function of iron is to form hemoglobin, a red blood cell protein whose main purpose is to transport oxygen in the blood. Additional hemoglobin is important, because humans lose blood in many ways, especially from injuries. Women lose blood every month during their menstrual cycles, which is one of the reasons women may be more likely to suffer from anemia.

    3. Reduces Fatigue; Iron may help manage unexplained fatigue, which can affect both men and women. Even in someone who isn’t anemic, low iron can still reduce energy levels. This is especially common in women during their reproductive years. Fatigue from iron deficiency involves more than just a normal level of sleepiness. It causes tiredness that interferes with a person’s daily routine, and activities may feel exhausting and less enjoyable. People with low iron experience fatigue lasting several weeks or longer. Iron-rich foods and supplements can help raise iron levels and eliminate feelings of tiredness and exhaustion. Cooking on cast iron can also add to increased dietary intake.

    4. Improves Muscle Endurance; Muscle metabolism and low iron are linked. Adequate levels of iron help provide the necessary oxygen for muscle contraction and endurance. (Muscle weakness is one of the most common signs of anemia.) Low iron also makes muscles fatigue easier. A lack of iron will leave muscle tissues inflamed, causing pain. Iron-rich hemoglobin helps to reduce pain because it repairs affected tissues.

    5. Boosts Immunity; Iron plays an important role in strengthening the immune system. It promotes hemoglobin, which provides oxygen to damaged cells, tissues, and organs and is necessary for the body’s ability to fight diseases and infections. Therefore, low iron status can impair immune function and the healing process.

    6. Improves Concentration; Research shows that cognitive levels drop with iron deficiency. When iron levels in the blood drop, concentration and attentiveness are affected almost immediately. Getting iron levels restored to a normal range can improve concentration and boost cognitive performance.

    7. Reduces Bruising; People who bruise easily may be suffering from low iron or an actual iron deficiency. This is because hemoglobin affects the production and function of platelets, which control blood clotting. Frequent bruising is an indication that internal clotting isn’t working as it should. If low iron is the cause of easy and frequent bruising, then iron supplementation can help.

    8. Restores Sleep; Research published in 2019 shows a connection between low iron stores and sleep issues, including restless sleep, sleep apnea, and insomnia. Research from 2020 found restless sleep in autistic children can be improved with iron therapy.

    The Great Proteins Myth

  • Protein has been explained as the building block of life and a necessity in our diets. What are proteins?
  • Proteins are large, complex molecules that play many critical roles in the body.
  • Proteins are made up of hundreds or thousands of smaller units called amino acids, which are attached to one another in long chains. There are 20 different types of amino acids that can be combined to make a protein.
  • Protein is found throughout the body—in muscle, bone, skin, hair, and virtually every other body part or tissue. It makes up the enzymes that power many chemical reactions and the hemoglobin that carries oxygen in your blood. At least 10,000 different proteins make you what you are and keep you that way.
  • Because we don’t store amino acids, our bodies make them in two different ways: either from scratch or by modifying others.
  • Nine amino acids—histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine—known as the essential amino acids, must come from food.
  • Phenylalanine is found naturally in the breast milk of mammals. It’s highly valuable for its analgesic and antidepressant effects.
  • Seaweeds demonstrate original and interesting nutritional characteristics. Protein concentration ranges from 5% to 47% of dry basic.
  • Its value depends particularly on species and environmental conditions. Seaweed protein is a source of all amino acids, especially glycine, alanine, arginine, proline, glutamic, and aspartic acids.
  • In algae, essential amino acids (EAAs) represent almost half of total amino acids and their protein profile is close to the profile of egg protein. In case of non-EAAs, all three groups (green, brown, and red seaweeds) contain a similar amount.
  • Red seaweed seems to be a good source of protein because its value reaches 47%. The issue of protein malnutrition supports the trend to find a new and cheap alternative source of protein.
  • Algae could play an important role in the above-mentioned challenge because of a relatively high content of nitrogen compounds. Algae may be used in the industry as a source of ingredients with high nutritional quality.
  • Full text (Seaweed proteins and amino acids as nutraceuticals – PubMed) All animals get their Amino acids from their mother’s breast and then some from plants and sea vegetables, this including fish.
  • This enables them to produce their own proteins in their bodies like they have been coded to do. Humans have decided to rob the animals of these proteins since they don’t have enough supply of it in the food supply.
  • This Animal protein comes with other attachments such as fat, microbes, parasites, worms, other animal DNA, mucus, and energies. Our bodies are coded to make their own proteins.
  • Sea vegetables are a powerful source of balanced omega acids which promote the growth of proteins in the body. Sea moss is a great source.

    Sea MOSS Prep

  • Soak a small quantity( about a fist full) of seamoss. Seamoss holds 200 times of its weight in water( it swells up after soaking).
  • Step 1: -Soak in natural spring water for some amount of hours. About 8-12 hours or there about would be ok. This is to revive/re-electrify it from it’s dried state. Also, soaking it will help to get rid of some of the sea/salty taste.
  • Step2: -Rinse about 3 times in key lime spring water. This will further take away the salty/sea taste from it.
  • Step 3 -While the above is being done (step 2), boil some amount of spring water in a pot. Then pour this hot spring water on the Seamoss, which would have been already rinsed and placed in pot. Allow the seamoss to simmer in the hot water for about 40mins or there about….This will break down the seamoss.
  • Step 4 -put the pot of seamoss back on the fire, keep stirring and add water in need be to get a jelly consistency. Keep stirring up with medium to low heat. It’s important to keep stirring up to break down the seamoss. Sea moss has a lot of dissolved solids and so it burns easy, another reason to keep stirring.
  • Step 5 -once the consistency is that of a jelly, take off from the fire and let it cool. This will solidify the seamoss into a gel. Store in a cool place.
  • You can now add your seamoss to your smoothies, teas, drink, etc….Anything you want to add it to. You can also bake with it or put it as a face mask.

    Understanding Sprouting

    Overview of Sprouting;

    • Sprouting is the process by which a seed germinates and puts out shoots. It’s proven that soaking and growing fresh shoots boosts the nutritional qualities of such sprouts by 300 to 1200 percent, and they contain easily digestible omegas content as well. They’re easy to grow at home and can provide a great source of fresh live foods even for those who don’t have space for a vegetable garden.

    • Sprouts have a high content of available enzymes which makes them easily digestible, except perhaps for some of the legumes can be difficult to digest without steaming. Some people do not eat young alfalfa shoots because they think they contain carayanine, a substance suspected of causing ill effects by those that consume it.

    • They have 10 to 30 times the nutrients than the vegetables they grow into which is why they are considered a true natural super food. The amazing thing is that sunflower sprouts is said to have 30 times the nutrient value and life force of any other sprout. Now we’re at a whole other level of super foods. The Upendo Raw Vegan diet Program is based largely on consuming fresh raw foods like shoots.

    • I have been experimenting with sprouting grains. It’s a better option to consume Alkaline grains and seeds.

    • The desirable nutritional changes that occur during sprouting are mainly due to the breakdown of complex compounds into a more simple form, transformation into essential constituents and breakdown of nutritionally undesirable constituents.
    • Sprouts are also considered pre-digested food by some.
    • The seed is getting ready to grow and all the energy is unlocked at this stage.
    • The metabolic activity of resting seeds increases as soon as they are hydrated during soaking.
    • Complex biochemical changes occur during hydration and subsequent sprouting.
Complex constituents and minerals are broken down and made easier to assimilate with the body. Sprouting increases the energy levels to 20 folds that of a dry seed.
    • Many studies have shown an increase in the content of the amino acid Lysine with sprouting. This is one of the Aminos ultimately responsible in protein production in the body.
    • Most Raw food diets consists of sprouts. This is a very healthy way to consume grains.
    • People with diabetes may find that eating sprouts helps them control their blood sugar levels more effectively. Studies suggest that sprouts can lower blood glucose levels.
